JOHN KEEL NOT AN AUTHORITY ON ANYTHING

The Answer (4)

http://thehistoryhacker.com/2015/03/ This concludes “Part One” of John’s curious private document, “The Answer.” He discusses the hypnotic session here, and the Gideon Bible incident here. The last paragraph is puzzling. It’s addressed to a reader, so John obviously expected this file to be read. But by whom?

  3. You mean… there’s *more*?

Please tell me Princess Moon Owl will make an appearance.

  4. I’m afraid the entertaining Princess doesn’t appear here, despite her sowing confusion in the “Special Cases” file.

  5. Interesting that JAK possessed the kind of sensibility that would progress from this kind of fatuity, for the most part, to the refined thinking of OTH within a rather short time.

  6. And just a few years before this, he was writing jokes for game shows. Quite a trajectory!

  7. Just a question, Doug. JAK’s bio in the IMBD states he was a script writer for several TV shows in the 1960s. One show listed was The Monkees. Sadly, I can’t find him receiving credit in the official production listings. I’m guessing he was a contributor. What episode(s) did he write? I’ve always wondered if he was involved in the episode “ Watch Your Feet,” a parody of The Invaders.

  8. I haven’t seen anything about “The Monkees” in his papers, but he apparently contributed gags to several shows around that time. He wasn’t always credited. Even for “Mack and Myer,” he was listed as “script editor,” since Mickey Deems wanted all the credit. No wonder John became disenchanted with TV!

  9. I find it hard to believe JAK ever believed in this. To me it seems like he’s presenting the story as told by his many contacts, not what his beliefs are. Which is quite a contrast to all the space brothers stuff that had been published up to that point. Maybe he was typing out a synopsis of what he had been told just to see if it made sense, and decided it didn’t. And I don’t think the greys had been invented yet, they were still being seen literally as little green men.

  10. I find it hard to believe, too, but John does seem serious. Well, read on, and see what you think. There were various little gray aliens mentioned here and there in science fiction, but I think the Betty and Barney Hill case in 1961 really established them in UFO lore.
