A Letter from Lynn Catoe, December 8, 1967

http://snyderartdesign.com/carlsbad-art-wall/ Lynn Catoe responds to John’s letter with some bewilderment, suggesting that he’s a bit more “round the bend” than he thinks. She also wants to know exactly what “specialized research” he’s doing, and what his methods are. And she also suggests that the mysterious phone calls he’s received may have been pranks.

  1. It’s nice to see one of John’s associates weren’t taking everything he said at face value. Not to be mean to John but I wonder why he chose to interpret things the way he did back then. I’m sure those phone calls and crazy letters didn’t help his sanity either. Do you know if John truly believed in his ultra-terrestrial theory till the day he died or did he just not care anymore?

  2. I think several of John’s associates disagreed with him, and some were worried about his behavior. And I do think he was tripped up at times by confirmation bias. As far as I know, his ideas about ultra-terrestrials were always evolving, but he certainly didn’t believe we were visited by extraterrestrials.
