Again, Doug, I thank you for all this, it’s a fascinating behind the scenes look at JAK’s investigative and thought processes, but I’m having trouble figuring out whether he was buying all this or just some of it at the time. I’m not even sure if he knew exactly what to think because his opinion seems to change a bit as events continue to ‘happen’ to Jaye.
I can tell you I have lived on LI (but a good 25 miles west of Jaye’s neck of the woods) for most of my life and (spoiler alert) Mothman never showed up on LI, to the best of my knowledge. He/it stayed in WV, I would think.

I still feel like if something was going on it was Jaye being gas lighted by a cult.I wonder how much gas lighting was happening to John in all of this.

I could be totally wrong, but my feeling is Jaye started with small lies, and just like a plot in a bad sitcom, once she felt John was buying in, she felt compelled to escalate the lies in terms of their strangeness rather than cop to what was really happening, i.e., not much. I would think if any of this was on the level, she would have resurfaced at some point to try to make a buck (which I wouldn’t have blamed her for had any of this been true and she really had to endure such craziness).

I probably shouldn’t have said to ‘make a buck,’that was nor right. But I still would be shocked if Jaye really has been able to keep quiet for all these years if she had witnessed such incredible and terrifying events.

I can’t tell how many of Jaye’s stories John believed either! I suspect it was more than he should have… He probably hoped that he was onto a big story, maybe even the explanation for all those UFO reports. By the way, we should probably keep in mind that these were his private records, and that he was recording eveything just in case it proved relevant later.
