Anyone know who Sam Stewart is? Since John asked him to leave his apartment after only a few minutes, it sounds as if their conversation did not go well. Could Stewart have been spying on John?

(UPI) — A Long Island group of about 100 “average ordinary working people and housewives” has become so incensed about the “completely hopeless” conditions of a small Indian tribe in Arizona that it has determined to do “something about it According’ to Mrs. Jaye Paro, chairman of the Society of American Indians in Farmingdale, the Cocopah Indians of Soraerton live in “the most tragic conditions.” “Ihey have no schools, and fanjilies live on an income of between $30 and S65 a month from welfare checks,” she said. “Some of them, mostly children who have no one to care forrthem, even live in cardboard boxes. Their diet is pinto beans and potatoes and they suffer not only from respiratory problems that: -civilized America licked years ago but obesity as well.” · Mrs. Paro, a freelance miter, said; today the tribe of 745 Indians: also had a high suicide rate^ and an SO per cent unemployment rate. And lacking such modern facilities as electricity. they were in constant danger from -fires lit to heat up their ramshackle huts, she said. “We have a regular Biafra right here in Arizona and no one knows about it,” she said. In. a telegram to President Nixon today, requesting aid for the Cocopahs, Mrs. Paro called their; situation “a blot on the credo of the United States — a travesty of the words ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’
