John Keel died ten years ago, on July 3, 2009. His friends still miss him, and those who didn’t know him will, I hope, keep reading his books. Anthony Matt and I started this blog a few months later; I’ll keep posting here as well. Rest in Peace, John!

  1. I never met John Keel except through his books and articles, but I still miss his presence in the world, his painstaking investigations, and his keen insight on all things strange. Yes, rest in peace, John. We’ll see you on the other side.

And Doug, thanks for continuing to share, and for being his friend.

  2. I’ve read most of Johns books several times. He had a unique writers voice that I’ve not found anywhere else in this field. More importantly he was the guy who went out into the darkness to stand on a hill in an effort to experience and be in contact with his subject. And had more than a few weird experiences. He was the “Wise Man” of UFO and paranormal studies. This blog has helped me understand what John was saying in all those books and I thank you Doug for keeping this blog going.

  3. Still love his books, still talk about and share his ideas with others. Doug, you could be making a fortune releasing all this material in a series of books but like the true friend to Keep that you are, you don’t go that route. Instead you release it all for free in honour of your friend to do your part to ensure his memory lives on. Thanks so much for your loyalty to Keel both during and at the end of his life and to his legacy and his fans all these years after!!!

  4. Thanks Doug – I read at least one of Johns books once a year and this compendium of his notes has been a real gift. I wish he could have compiled all of these notes into a larger series of books.

  5. Thanks, Graham. John used his notes for his published books and articles; as it was, he had a hard time making a living from them!

  7. Compressed talking machines bearing “a voice” which would sound like a chilled electronic audio sample to nod English rock band- Porcupine Tree of Japan’s Richard Barbieri composition entitled “Intermediate Jesus”.

Looking Glass Studios’ electronic stealth suspense thriller entitled Thief II: The Metal Age published Eidos Interactive. Steam punk perspective from the series’ second sequential instillation depicting automaton children of a damnable effigy beneath the visible plot propagating his voice under mechanism.

  8. John’s work so impressed me that I fashioned my second novel’s main character after him (in fact, for all intents and purposes, it it him). An investigation into the paranormal, the book will be released sometime next year. Hail Keel.

  9. John Keel – ever since I first read his Haunted Planet when I was 12, and a quarter of a decade or so later he wrote for introduction to my own book, and my telephone conversations with him, has remained an inspiration and everlasting influence. Nobody like him!

    Best regards,
