He also comments on the baffling wave of fear that overwhelmed him during one sighting. I previously posted excerpts from that notebook here.

  2. It is always amazing to me how Keel can scare the crap out of you with a few choice sentences.

  5. I found out awhile back that Lynn Catoe, who was the senior bibliographer for the massive Library of Congress booklet UFOs and Related Subjects: An Annotated Bibliography, compiled for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, that she and John Keel had become good friends. Tim Beckley even told me how they showed up together at one of his UFO talks up in Ohio one time. She described in her summary how much of the UFO literature was closely connected with mysticism and metaphysical subject matter, mentioning mental telepathy, automatic writing, poltergiests, “demonic possession” type cases, etc. Altho Keel briefly mentioned in OTH Ms. Catoe’s UFO bibliography, he never mentioned knowing her personally. Because they were focused and seemingly interested in very similar areas, and as they had become friends who even traveled together to UFO talks it seemed, I wondered if there were any additional details about their relationship that might be noteworthy. Did Keel’s thoughts and studies on the subject have some influence on her own thinking; or, did she influence him too? Did they collaborate at all, perhaps investigating any cases together? I’m just wondering if there’s more to this story.

  6. John dated Lynn Catoe for a few months in 1968; they broke up when she wanted the relationship to become more serious. I don’t think they investigated cases together, though.
