Nyagan Once again, John writes a letter to Jaye Paro’s supposed aliens. He asks for help in protecting Paro (also known as Tim’na), and tries to develop a strategy for revealing them to a wider public. The contactee form he mentions is not included; he must have filed it elsewhere. The request for a recording of his voice is disturbing, no matter who asked for it.
Wow they asked for a voice recording? What was Jaye et al planning to do with that? That’s a warning that worse manipulation was to come. At least John admitted he had no proof, and was asking for both validation of the aliens’ existence, and vindication by the public as a UFO authority to be trusted. Did John ever predicts a disaster like Gere’s character, and get burned when it didn’t happen? Where did they get that element for the movie?

IIRC correctly (and I may not), didn’t he get tricked into predicting the assassination of the pope? An attempt was later made, but it was unsuccessful and the time was off by years.

Am about to look at John Keels Strange Mutants of time and space and in his bio it mentions a forthcoming book as of 1984 anyway, called carnival of the mind. Just wondering if this sounds familiar…

I always have enjoyed John’s writing and bought almost all of his books when I was younger. But it’s troubling when he writes of Menger and Adamski as if they were on the level. It doesn’t make me disbelieve everything, but it’s troubling.

I was surprised by the references to Menger and Adamski too. But he was new to the field; he may not have figured them out yet. I think “Carnival of the Mind” was either the working title for Disneyland of the Gods, or for an abridged version of Our Haunted Planet in the same format as Strange Mutants. But I could be wrong!
