The Reeves Papers (11)

He details his attempts at decipherment, step by step, before abandoning this draft. Apparently, he then turned to the Bliss symbols as a more likely explanation. In passing, he also suggests that the first sheet was a hoax by the Air Force, and that they suppressed the real first sheet. At any rate, here’s where the Reeves file ends.

  1. It seems like quite the assumption in the first place to think the code will translate letter for letter into English instead of some other language. I’m curious if you’ve taken a crack at these yourself, Doug. You seem to like to play with the occasional cipher. What are your thoughts?

  2. Hi, Marsh! It seems reasonable to assume that the second page would be like the first. But the fact that it uses 66 letters might mean that it’s in another language, that it uses more than one alphabet, or that it’s a syllabic script (as Ozinor suggested in these comments earlier). I don’t know much about cryptography, but I’m curious what an experienced cryptographer would make of it.

  3. I hope whichever NSA or AFOSI graduating class was given this hoax as their final exercise got an A.

  5. I have a question: one of the two sheets of reeves’paper(a part of it actually) was subjected to fire later on for testing and it burned readily, then why did neither of them catch fire or burn to ashes when the UFO left the site?
How could these papers be intact given their close proximity to the UFO(that reeves saw) which gave out so much heat during it’s departure?
The papers should have been burnt completely because in all UFO sightings, people present claim large amount of heat emissions ….isn’t it?

  6. The simplest answer is that Reeves may not have been telling the truth. However, it takes paper 451 degrees to auto-ignite (as Ray Bradbury reminded us), more or less, depending on the paper, which is why you can bake muffins and cupcakes in paper. So, if paper was exposed to a temperature below that, without direct flame, it wouldn’t catch on fire.

  7. another discrepancy is that the codes were “written” on paper. In that case one has to assume that aliens know how to use paper(and pen for that matter).Besides,in almost every account of alien/ufo contact, communicators/abductees get communicated telepathically…like a voice in your head or simply made to see symbols(like binary codes as in rendelsham forest incident). So maybe this reeves guy was a fake….or he was some guy from airforce trying to cover up something even more sinister.
