JOHN KEEL NOT AN AUTHORITY ON ANYTHING

Special Cases – The Long Island File (70): Questions (QA #4)

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:23 pm

http://offsecnewbie.com/plus/90sec.php John submitted another questionnaire to Apol, and included the response in his file. Apol (I suppose channeled by Jaye Paro) replied in crude red pencil; John transcribed the answers on these carbons.

A few notes: On page 2, the questions about people in caverns refer to Richard Shaver’s claims of underground cities, frequently discussed in UFO circles. Long John Nebel’s nightly radio show often focused on UFOs; Apol identified him as a contactee in an earlier questionnaire. John Lester wrote a series of articles on UFOs for the Newark Star-Ledger in 1958. I can’t identify Tom Everett Hilliard or “Charlie.” Gordon Evans wrote for Fate, Flying Saucers, and other magazines; Joseph Henslik was a contactee, according to John a confessed hoaxer; Don Estrella was a friend of John’s, mentioned in Chapter 9 of The Mothman Prophecies.

As I said about an earlier questionnaire, John’s questions are probably more interesting than the answers.

  4. Dear Mr. Skinner, I note in question 25 that newsman John Lester is mentioned. I am curious whether you might have more information regarding Lester. I am particularly interested in the surveys he conducted in 1958 with radar operators and pilots. I conduct historical research. Any information would be appreciated. Tom

  5. Sorry, I have no information on John Lester. I just googled him to find out why he was mentioned in the questionnaire.

  6. Hi everyone, just some “non-news” about Tom Hilliard to save you all some research time. I tried some Google searches for “Tom Hilliard, “Thomas Hilliard,” “Thomas Edward Hilliard,” and “Whitey Hilliard.” Nothing much came up except hits including calm-looking obits, none of which imply any kind of journalism or military career, etc. Whitey Hilliard seemed involved with horse racing https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/88681587/

Maybe someone with access to indexed, non-internet newspaper archives could find his name, but if he’s not already a name in the UFO- or ultraterrestrial-world, his name may not be worth additional search time. Cheers to Tom and to John Keel, too! I love one of Mr. Keel’s remarks in a talk now on YouTube wherein he said that it was best to relax about all the fear about UFOs and Men in Black and “to lead a “normal life.” I try to remind myself of that when I get too fixated. Best wishes, all! : – )

  7. Thanks for looking! Tom might have been a neighbor of John or Jaye. He might have had nothing to do with UFOs, and John mentioned him to test Apol/Jaye.

  8. Ok, Thanks, Doug. Just curious since I have had no luck locating any information at all regarding John Lester (and re question #28 guess that Keel also was unable to find him). I assume that Keel’s interest concerned two articles published by Lester in the Newark-Star Ledger Dec. 19 and 22, 1958. Both were surveys of sorts, one claiming to have sent questionnaires to 1000 radar ground controllers in the US, and the other with 50 commercial pilots who had each observed a UFO.
