A Letter from Mary Hyre, July 21, 1967

http://pulsobeat.com/tag/yoga/ Mary Hyre’s next letter to John, from July 21, 1967, gives more news from Point Pleasant.  There are lights in the sky, reports of turkey vultures, television interference, and an update on Roger and Linda Scarberry’s marital troubles.  Mary is also concerned about John’s safety as he investigates the flap.

  1. Googling ‘Viv Venus’ gets a couple more newspaper articles via a guy called Alan White, who briefly talks about how he met her and her ‘landing site’ elsewhere on the website. There’s also an interview on YouTube.

I’m guessing she’s the real-life Princess Moon Owl? She certainly seems to have caused a tiny tabloid commotion.

  2. She also published a book called “Vivenus: Starchild.” I have a copy around here somewhere; I’ll post some photos as a footnote to the letter. Vivenus, or Viv Venus, appeared at some early UFO conferences; she caused quite a stir. She also wrote some songs, including one called “It’s Not Odd to Vote for God.” I’d love to hear that.

Princess Moon Owl was a different character. Jaye Paro said that she met her at the radio station; John talked with her on the phone, and said she sounded like a man with a phony accent. Another mystery…

  3. I think a study on these early, colourful contactee types is long overdue! I’d love to hear more about Viv of Venus (where is she now if still around?)

Looking forward to what you will post on her, Doug!

    Best regards,

  5. Not sure if this was covered in other posts, but it would really be great to see the letters John sent to Mary. Any contact with her relatives? These….would be a treasure.

  6. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any of John’s letters to Mary. He usually kept carbons of his letters, but I guess he didn’t in this case. And I’m not sure who would have them now…
