Well, they ended up using the material in their own books. Part of the problem was that John was putting more effort into that proposed UFO piece for Playboy, which was eventually rejected; and this project took second place. Ah well...

Hi, Doug:

What a treat to read the actual outline (and to be reminded that, when I started freelancing in 1982, my typewriter had a red-option on the ribbon!) Keel and Sanderson wrote. Can't say it wasn't organized. Looked like they were reading to get going on the text. At least they left us many others, eh?

Best,
Bill Grabowski

Wow. I had no idea his notebooks would even still be around somewhere! I read through these and was quite struck by them... a slap in the face...plain, unadorned, to the point and vivid. I have been re-reading OTH yet again and have been even more impressed by his commentary than I have in the past. I think few of us really do get it... but it is obvious to me his legacy will not diminish but grow with time. He has made inroads I think - again - only a few right now can really appreciate. Thanks for the eye-opening notes!

Doug:

Yes, thanks to your previous work here I know of those. Having written some pseudonymous stuff (as "Anton Laveau") myself, I can appreciate it. I wonder if those 2 are out there? I'm gonna look.

Best,

Hi Doug!

As you know, JAK was a great comedy writer. I recall back in 2003, living in Pittsburgh, I found copies of JADOO and FICKLE FINGER OF FATE online. These added an entire new dimension (no pun there) to my appreciation and fascination. Then I got to say hello to the man himself at the 2003 Mothman Fest in Point Pleasant. I have photos of him near the sculpture, and others.

Man, what a book those two would have written....

Best,

Bill Grabowski
